Community Birth Class

Join us for our hands-on community birth class, designed to help you and your birth partner feel confident, informed, and physically prepared for labor and birth. It’s especially for families planning a homebirth or birth center birth, and it’s also a great fit if you’re hoping for a low-intervention, natural birth in the hospital.

How the Day Works
We’ll start with a classroom-style presentation on how birth works. Then we’ll move downstairs for a guided, hands-on session where you and your partner practice the tools you’ll actually use in labor. This part isn’t a workout. It’s about connecting with your body, learning to consciously relax, and building confidence together. Everyone joins in, at whatever level feels good to you.

The Presentation

  • the stages of labor and what to expect in each one

  • optimal fetal positioning (head down, anterior, LOA) and why it matters

  • how your baby moves through the pelvis (the cardinal movements)

  • preparing your body for labor: flexibility, strength, and relaxation

  • daily habits that support smooth labor progress

The Hands-On Session

  • grounding and deep belly breathing

  • relaxation and body-awareness practice: learning to find and release tension

  • third-trimester stretches, including psoas releases to make room for baby

  • labor positions and movements to ease discomfort and help baby navigate the pelvis

  • partner support: hip squeezes, counterpressure, and comfort measures for each stage of labor

  • how to offer steady emotional support when it matters most

  • a practice contraction, putting it all together

Please Bring

  • your main birth support person (partner, friend, or family member)

  • comfortable clothes you can move in

  • a yoga mat or blanket and a pillow for floor work

  • an exercise ball (we’ll have a pump if yours needs air)

  • a water bottle to stay hydrated

  • lunch, or plan to pick some up nearby that day. The quicker we get through lunch, the quicker we can be done 😊
