Our Suites
Midtown Birth Center is located in a historic 1936 home, and when we restored it, we chose to work with the original layout rather than move walls or make every room the same. The result is two distinctly different birth suites, each with its own size, layout, and character—and plenty of old-home charm (sticky doors and all!).
The Upstairs Suite
Tucked away on the second floor, the Upstairs Suite is a quiet, private space with the character and warmth of the original home. The suite includes a birth tub, birth rope and private bathroom.
The Downstairs Suite
Located on the main floor, the Downstairs Suite has a smaller footprint that gives it a particularly cozy, tucked-in feel. The birth room and tub are all within one intimate space, creating a warm environment where everything feels close at hand. It also offers easy access to the shared living areas of the birth center, with room to move, rest, and settle in throughout labor and birth.

Most likely! Most of the time, there is only one family in labor at the birth center, and you’re welcome to choose whichever suite you prefer. Occasionally, births overlap. When that happens, suite choice is first come, first choice, and the other suite remains available for the second family.

Yes. You’re welcome to move beyond your suite and use the shared living spaces as you’d like. If two families are in labor at the same time, shared spaces may be used by both families.

Yes. Siblings are welcome to be part of the birth if that feels right for your family. We recommend having a designated adult whose primary responsibility is caring for them so that their needs are covered regardless of what is happening during labor. Let us know if you need recommendations for sibling doulas!

Yes! The kitchen is available to you during your stay, and you’re welcome to bring whatever food, drinks, and snacks you’d like to have on hand for yourself and your support people. We have an oven, stove, coffee maker, microwave as well as pots + pans and dishware.

Most families remain at the birth center for approximately 2–4 hours after birth. During that time, you’ll rest together while your midwife provides postpartum and newborn care and makes sure everyone is ready to transition home.
